News 20.09.2026

The National Literacy Trust, the British Council and the National Year of Reading are teaming up to set a new Guiness World Records title for “the most people reading together online over 12 hours” on 8th October.

Children, young people and adults around the world are being invited to spend 10 minutes reading together to “experience the wellbeing benefits of reading” in the lead up to World Mental Health Day (10th October).

The online events have been designed for different age groups: five to eight years, eight to 12, 12 to 16 and 16+. Each event will feature a special author or guest, alongside 10 minutes of dedicated reading time. More information on how to take part can be found here.
